Loved this one,loved it,butBut knowing Eve was supposed to be this monsters ultimate prize ? Had me tense and worried ,like waiting for one of those horrible jump scares in a scary movie.Almost and I hate scary movies .I was like Eve NEVER gets kidnapped ,this isn’t like that stuff I’ve read in the past where the supposedly bass A heroine get taken down by her own pride and hubris and kidnapped and or tortured and abused in every other book.Yeah, happens often in paranormal or urban fantasies, in the “right” or wrong series.Even though I know that not how it works here ,past exp.for other series still had me worried. I mean at over 50 books I knew Eve isn’t getting killed but the up idea of anything new adding more baggage to what she already carries around as enough.That had me worried and frustrated .But I loved how things played out ! Now I know we can’t and won’t have Roarke in this big a role/part in her cases ,I mean he does have his world 🌍 domination through business to continue on in,but I LOVED having him around so much and especially loved him getting to get a better look at just all she dies and all she goes through.Roarke really got to know her and her world in a way he never had before and his understanding was able to deepen . Love that.I love how Eve was able to both lean on others and save herself .No TSTL heroines here. gods, if only the h’s from some of the series I loved in the past could have been smart enough to know they needed to lean on others and still basked in their own strength at the same time .Sorry, really trying not to get on the soap box about how many writers will create a supposedly strong,Bad A heroine only to weigh her down with so much pride and hubris and the idea she doesn’t need anyone she can do it all on her own, she becomes an idiot and a TSTL( to stupid to live) and is easily taken down and taken off to be used and hurt and abused.That some how the h has to me taken and hurt and assaulted and then rescued to resolve the plot . That in order for a woman to be strong she has to lean on her own strength more then anyone else’s. It’s BS and it’s boring but there you have it .And ps. I’m not in to girl crushes and such but speaking of cool heroines I just LOVED Ariel . I don’t want to spoil for once but she was such a Bad A in her way and I loved her so much !Ariel the Bad A baker needs a story!Loved this !!!! There isn't a series out there, in this genre, as well done as the In Death series. It's been an absolute obsession of mine for a good decade now. It's rare to find a series with this many stories in it. With the novellas, I believe there are over 50 now. The development of the characters, is unbelievable. It's like investing in a TV series that's been on for 10 years. Beloved, is probably the best word. A series this long has taken the fans through tears, joy, grief and many many firsts in their lives.Though there are cases that aren't as interesting, as others in the series, they are all still worth the read. Now this one, Creation, is one of my favorites because it's the whole package. The case is just as interesting as the personal side of the story. There's a good investment in the personal side of the characters, as there is in the case. Those are the best ones in the series! I've read this one multiple times and it's still just as good, if not better, than the first read.**Having said this, it's very discouraging to see negative reviews from people, who simply grabbed an In Death book and read it. I strongly recommend those people start at the beginning, rather than judging just one if the series. There may be things you don't like about some of the characters, like Eve being brash at times. You would get it, if you took the WHOLE journey.
